Local young men recently had the opportunity to be  inspired and uplifted at the recent ‘Boyz 2 Men,’ event hosted at HollyBrook Homes Apartments. The breakout sessions offered practical wisdom, from goal setting to self-care delivered by positive role models in the community.  Attendants were given the opportunity to speak with prominent males in the surrounding community. “This was very informative. We need male role models in our community,” said attendee Galin Bell. The young men gained insight into building healthy relationships and living a purposeful life. The Community Aids Network (CAN Community Health) testing unit provided a vital service as well for STD/ STI awareness and prevention. The event achieved its aims in celebrating local youth, offering them knowledge and resources for growth and introducing mentor to guide them. “The community clearly came together to support the next generation of leaders,” said organizer Daphne Colbert.

AGAPE Community Health Center, was established in 2004 to provide quality healthcare services for the insured, uninsured, and underinsured residents of Duval County. AGAPE operates six facilities, which  include  four  Comprehensive  Primary  Care Centers, two Women’s Health Center (AGAPE – Magnolia East & Merrill) and one Community Partnership School (Ed White High School) which is located in an underserved community.
