SUMMARY:Florida Blue Prepares for Marketplace Monday Surge
DESCRIPTION:WHO:             Florida Blue\, the state’s Blue Cross and Blue Shield plan\, has been serving the state for more than 80 years helping people and communities achieve better health \n\nWHAT:           While retailers are preparing for the Black Friday rush and online portals prepare for Cyber Monday\, insurance professionals at Florida Blue are preparing for Marketplace Monday. Just like the day after Thanksgiving sees a sizeable increase in shopping for holiday gifts\, the Monday after Thanksgiving (Marketplace Monday) sees a surge of people sign up for health insurance. \n\n                        For the past several years\, the Monday following Thanksgiving has seen a surge in signups and renewals of health insurance plans available through the Marketplace (also known as “Obamacare.”). Florida Blue reports Marketplace Monday is one of its busiest days of the year. \n\n                        No one knows why Marketplace Monday is such a busy day for enrolling in health insurance\, but some speculate people get in the shopping mindset following Black Friday. Others suggest Thanksgiving being over makes people realize the year is drawing to an end quickly and they need to act fast before the December 15 deadline to have effective coverage starting January 1. \n\n                        It is estimated that more than 2.3 million were uninsured in Florida in 2023. Many would qualify for health insurance that’s $0 each month\, thanks to financial assistance. \n\nFor some\, getting a plan during Open Enrollment through the ACA Marketplace can lower their monthly cost. In fact\, 4 out of 5 people enrolled in the Marketplace are able find a plan for $10 or less per month after financial assistance. More than 9 out of 10 people enrolled in Marketplace plans get financial assistance. If you didn’t qualify for assistance in the past\, you may now. \n\nMedia is invited to come see the Marketplace Monday surge at our Florida Blue Centers. \n\nWHEN:           Monday\, December 2\, 2024 \n                        Spokespeople are available during regular business hours \n\nWHERE:         Florida Blue Center Town Center \n                     4855 Town Center Parkway \n                     (904) 363-5870 \n  \n                     Florida Blue Center River City Marketplace \n                     13249 City Square Dr. Suite 103 \n(904) 394-2250
