The Edith Marie Foundation, named after Edith Cooper who passed away from cancer last year, hosted an inaugural gala at Queen’s Harbour Yacht and County Club this weekend to hundreds of friends and family members. The foundation offers financial support for housing, utility and nutritional expenses to the families of those who are fighting breast cancer. The nonprofit organization was established by the youngest of Cooper’s four children, Terrie, who continues to spread the love and compassion felt by each encounter with her mother. A breast cancer diagnosis may result in the inability to perform daily tasks and prevent maintaining employment, making financial obligations difficult to meet. Edith was blessed with a strong support system during her battle and desired to maintain a legacy of helping others.

The beloved Edith was a wife, mother and pastor who took on her battle with an esteemed amount of strength and determination to beat the cancer diagnosis. The foundation’s Gala was a semi-formal event featuring catered cuisine, live entertainment, silent and live auction boasting a professional auctioneer. Items for the auctions include official hand-signed NFL memorabilia, luxurious spa retreats, exclusive event tickets, rounds of golf on the beautiful and a dining experience at a five-star restaurant. All proceeds from the event will benefit the foundation’s efforts to provide relief to those in need during difficult times.
