In case you missed it, Monday, the White House hosted a dance workshop in honor of Black History Month which included a dance workshop with 51 young ladies from the Washington, DC area. The workshops were led by iconic dancers including Debbie Allen (African dance), Fatima Robinson (Hip Hop), the Alvin Ailey Dance Theater (Modern dance) and the Dance Theater of Harlem (Ballet).

The daylong workshops included a panel discussion with First Lady Michelle Obama, the icons, and actress Lala Anthony. The day concluded with four dance demonstrations, — African, Modern, Ballet and Hip Hop — by the young ladies including opening remarks from First Lady Obama.

Below are the transcript of the First Lady’s remarks, a YouTube link to the video of today’s amazing performance and a link to some of the First Lady’s Instagram posts! Additional pictures to follow.
