Each year, thousands of people attend the Florida vs. Georgia rivalry football game on the First Coast. And each year, the “World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party” also creates college dreams for local students. To stand in the gap to help that dream become reality, dozens of supporters attended the 2nd Annual

The University of Florida Black Alumni recently held their second Scholarship Breakfast to raise money for local students going to the University of Florida.  This year’s keynote speaker was UF class of 2005 graduate Jamal Sowell, Florida Secretary of Commerce and President/CEO of Enterprise Florida, Inc. “You have to claim ownership of your school on the path to achieving full potential. and leverage partnerships beyond graduation and throughout one’s career,” said Sowell.

In honor of the Florida vs. Georgia football rivalry game this Saturday, the alumni will host a tailgate on November 2nd from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. The tailgate will be located in front of the Vystar Veterans Memorial Arena near the ticket window. The event is free. There will be food trucks, games, dancing and a TV to watch the big game. Guests are welcome to bring lawn chairs and beverages of their choice.
