The Johnson Family YMCA hosted their 12th annual Celebrate Life 5k Race/Walk over the weekend with over 400 runners participating throughout the day. Walkers began registering at 8 a.m. eager to begin the brisk morning walk that began at the Y and circled Edgewood and Cleveland Rd. for the three plus miles.
This year the Johnson Family Y reached out to area churches and initiated a challenge with the churches with the most registered congregants would receive a trophy and bragging rights for the year. In addition, each registered church member would receive a four week pass to the Johnson family YMCA. The community came together for a day of fellowship, food and fun to promote healthy living and the opportunity to get fit together. St. Stephens AME took home the bragging rites with dozens of participants on board.
