Sollie Mitchell Celebrates 100th Birthday

Community advocate ad volunteer Sollie Mitchell turned 100 last weekend and was feted with celebrations across the city. Mitchell’s rich history  includes a career as a Pullman Car Porter, WWII veteran and a participant in the 1963 March on Washington with Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Mitchell attended Stanton High School, was drafted in 1941 and worked for the railroad until he retired in 1981.
