The Reading Divas Mother Daughter Book Club met to discuss the importance of Black History; particularly the contributions of African American Women. Hosted by Barbara Barrett and her daughter Zoe, the February book talk included a discussion of “Molly by Golly,” led by Dianna Ochiltree and “Night Out with Mama,” by Quvenzhane Wallis.
Each tween portrayed a famous historical woman of their choice individually detailing the contributions of their respective figures: Zoe Barrett (Michelle Obama), Sage Kincaid (Misty Copeland), Taige Leathers (Shirley Chisholm) and Christa Kennebrew (Oprah Winfrey).
During the book talk the group responded to thought provoking questions while also sharing creative expressions through painting. In keeping with tradition, the group enjoyed soulful treats and self-affirming recitations.
“Reading Divas Book Club,” is a fun and engaging avenue to foster reading, enjoyment and bonding between mothers and daughters,” said Tina Baker.
