Last Sunday, the Suwannee North District Fellowship 5th Sunday District meeting was held at Greater Grant Memorial AME. Every 5th Sunday, a fellowship service is held by Presiding Elder Tony Hansberry of the Suwannee North District and Rev. Tan Moss of Greater Grant in Jacksonville to donate to various ministries.
Twenty-eight churches collaborated with a collective amount to donate to provide financial aid to a selected church that involve assistance to revamp, restore, renew and revitalize congregation’s structural houses of worship.
The recipient was New Allen Community AME Church in MacClenny, Florida, under the leadership of  Rev. Pauline Tucker. For the past eight years, New Allen was closed and in need of repairs. Its future was laid in the hands of Reverend Tucker in 2018. The nearly 14,000 received will assist in the church refurbishing request which includes new roofing, tile replacement, bathroom upgrades and minor repairs.
Reverend Tucker remarked, “I answered the call to preach in 1988, and didn’t began preaching till 1997. This is an opportunity to grow a congregation in nice surroundings, while spreading the gospel,” said Tucker. Tucker shared that she asked to resurrect the church in MacClenny at the November 2018 conference and is excited to begin her next ministerial journey. After repairs are completed and ministering for years at various churches, Tucker plans to open doors to the public early July of this year.
