Placing in the National Association for Colored People’s (NAACP) Afro-Academic Cultural, Technological, and Scientific Olympics (ACT-SO) has its rewards.

In 2016, Douglas Anderson High School senior Aahkilah Cornelius entered the Jacksonville Branch NAACP ACT-SO Competition. After placing 1st in the Modern Dance Category, she along with several other winners showcased their talent at the 107th Annual NAACP Convention in Cincinnati, Ohio. Sitting as a judge was Beyonce’ ‘s choreographer. Ms. Cornelius won a silver medal at the presentation ceremony.

Because of her exposure at the national competition, she is now meeting with agents and talent managers. Ms. Cornelius left on January 19, 2017 to move to Los Angeles to begin training as a backup dancer with Beyonce.
Congratulations Aahkilah Cornelius.
