New College Prep, Tuition-Free, Single Gender School for Girls Opens This Fall

A Ribbon Cutting Ceremony and Sneak Peek Offered On-Site Pre-Enrollment and Behind-the Scene Tours of Virtue Academy’s New Campus. Following the first-year success of Valor Academy of Leadership for boys, PROFECTUS Learning Systems is preparing to launch the all girls’ Virtue Arts & Science Academy this fall. Valor Academy, the first all boys College Prep school in Jacksonville, enrolled 140 young men in the Northwest Quadrant of Jacksonville in its inaugural year 2014-2015. More than 70% of scholars achieved academic growth in Reading and Math. The scholars also scored multiple speech and debate victories on local, state and national levels. Now, PROFECTUS is expanding its focus to girls and opening Virtue Arts & Science Academy for the upcoming school year 2015-2016. Virtue Academy is the sister school to Valor Academy and is based on the same model as Valor. The college-prep, tuition-free public charter school for females will focus on the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM). More than 200 members of the community came out to witness the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony and Sneak Peek to celebrate the opening of the new Virtue Arts & Science Academy campus, meet school leaders and learn about the school’s exciting plans. The event was held on Saturday, August 8, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., at 1824 Dean Road, Jacksonville, FL 32216. (Located at the former Hendricks Day School campus.)

Guests enjoyed behind-the scene tours, enrollment sessions, and a luncheon featuring special guest speakers from school and community leadership. Prizes and welcome gifts were also available for attendees. School officials were on-hand to accept applications for girls entering 6^th, 7^th & 9^th grades. Valor Academy of Leadership representatives were also present to assist families with both boys and girls. Valor Academy is now accepting enrollment for boys entering grades 6-10. Valor and Virtue Academies is also holding a weekly information session on Tuesdays at the Gateway Office of Administration at 5200-18 Norwood Avenue, from 6-8 p.m. Valor Academy of Leadership is now enrolling for 6^th – 10^th grades.
