Historic Mt. Zion AME Lois J. Roberts Allenites recently sponsored a shopping trip to Hilton Head, South Carolina and Pooler, Georgia, for a day of food, fun and shopping. The bus was filled with 46 passengers eager to start the day on the road preparing for a day to shop till they dropped! Riders began lining up to ride the bus at 7 a.m. and were presented with a continental breakfast that included light snacks and refreshments. The two hour bus ride was complete with a raffle, trivia games and a special stop for lunch at The Crazy Crab restaurant. The Lois J. Roberts Allenites club has been in existence for over 50 years and is named after member and Deaconess Lois Roberts. Roberts’s tireless efforts included raising funds for the church bazaar, building fund and families in need. Olivia Young is the current president and remarked, “This club has roots in the AME church. On a monthly basis we strive to ensure members are active and present to continue serving as community leaders and volunteers in the church”.
