Daughters, Sharon Porter-Thompson, Tanzy E. Howard and Syleste R. Porter showed up and showed out with exquisite decorations and framed portraits filled with family and friends memories.  A bevy of food was enjoyed by the guest, while the DJ played the hits of eras gone by and today’s top 40.  Ms. Romerta Porter was employed as a nurse for over 40 years; she’s a member of Chi Eta Phi Nursing Sorority, Eta Phi Beta Sorority and the Bold City Chapter Links. The three tier Rose birthday cake was devoured early and was layered with chocolate raspberries, pineapple crush and vanilla.  When asked, why a Happy New year Birthday celebration? Ms. Porter smiled, “I wanted this to be a happy New Year Celebration.  I feel happy and want to look and be happy for the rest of my life. No more numbers just happiness.” Also overhead on the dance floor, a guest said, “We better hope we look this good when we get 74.”
