J100 Honors Youth, Members and Corporate Supporters

The 100 Black Men of Jacksonville presented its Bernard V. Gregory Scholarship Banquet, last weekend at the Hyatt Regency Hotel. The event hosted 150 attendees and presented 13 scholarships to deserving students. The scholarship fund was established after the passing of founding member Bernard Gregory, a community trustee known as a champion for the entire community and who gave tirelessly through volunteerism 

“Awardees are worthy of this support because they have chosen to follow their dream of academic and leadership excellence,” said Charles Griggs, President of the 100 Black Men of Jacksonville, Inc. “These young people are the future of our community, and it is great to be able to assist them as they take flight.” 

As an added incentive, six first year students received HP laptop computers. The 2019 Bernard V. Gregory Scholarship awardees are: Arianna Pinnix, Nia Guine-Herndon, Tamara Bentley, Mombo Ngo, Micheaila Jones, Christopher Jett Jr., Essence Burton, Ciaira Long, Jayla Washington, Nikayla Byirt, Ryan Williams, Christopher Champine, and Natalie Cline.

The 100 Black Men of Jacksonville, Inc. (100) is a chapter of the 100 Black Men of America, Inc., the 100 has been serving the Jacksonville community through its mission of mentoring youth since 1991. The men are committed to positive change that develops and implement responsible solutions to issues facing the African American community. Their initiatives include  include mentoring, education and scholarship, health and wellness, economic and leadership development. The 100 has awarded more than $325,000 in scholarships and supported more than 45 students matriculating through college.
