On Wednesday July 25, The Harlem Legends “Shoot for the Stars Basketball Camp” and “Hoops and Health Celebrity Basketball Show,” with Harlem Globetrotter legend Michael Douglas hosted a shoot for the stars youth basketball camp at the Orange Park Performing Arts Academy, in Orange Park, Florida. Over 50 students attended the camp. During the basketball camp, Michael’s long time friend Harlem Globetrotter legend Larry “Shorty” Coleman taught youth the fundamentals of basketball and how to make a proper jump shot and dribble the ball. The camp was created when Community Outreach Experiment (C.O.R.E.) founder and director Sandra Nestor-Love was doing volunteer work. Eventually she met the Chief Operator of the Harlem Legends, Michael Douglas. He was interested in working with C.O.R.E. and made an appointment to come to Jacksonville. C.O.R.E primary’s purpose is to provide the tools, resources, and guidance to young adults age 18-29, opportunities through entreprenurialship and character building. The CORE also inspires young adults to make healthy choices to sustain healthy relationships, while pursuing their academic, professional, and personal life goals.
