Groundworks Unveils Plans to Restore Green in Urban Jacksonville

Groundworks Unveils Plans for Going Green! – On Monday, February 29th Groundwork Jacksonville unveiled its 10-year plan to restore Jacksonville’s Emerald Necklace, a collection of parks and greenspace that encircle Jacksonville’s urban core and connect it to the outlying neighborhoods of New Town, Durkeeville, Brentwood, Northshore and Springfield. Groundwork is Jacksonville’s primary non-profit charged with cleaning and redeveloping Hogan’s Creek and converting some of the city’s most contaminated areas into parks, playgrounds, trails, and other public greenspace. In just one year Groundwork has proven that it also is leading the effort to spur revitalization and economic development, and foster active outdoor living in Jacksonville’s neglected urban neighborhoods.  Pictured is Groundwork Team Member Breona Green, providing pamphlets and information to attendees.
