Councilwoman Brown’s Town Hall Meeting Brings City Leaders Together in One Room

Concilman Dennis speaks to the crowd as his colleagues look on.

2015 Incoming City of Jacksonville District 8 Councilwoman Katrina Brown held her first Town Hall meeting, Thursday, September 3 at the Bradham-Brooks Library.
At least 100 residents in District 8 came out to hear Councilwoman Brown and her colleagues discuss crime, utilities and transportation issues.

Former Fire Chief Ray Alfred served as moderator for the event. Participants included Sheriff Mike Williams, Jacksonville Transportation Authority, COJ Public Works and Code Enforcement who spoke on their different departments and provided telephone numbers and emails for residents to make contact concerning neighborhood issues.
Councilwoman Brown was excited to have the opportunity to speak to residents in her district as she shared the podium with District 9 City Councilman Garrett Dennis who spoke to the residents on his role as a Councilman.

“Many of the residents in District 8 had a variety of questions and many residents had the same questions. It was imperative that we include city department leaders, JTA and public works to the people at one time. This Town Hall meeting was the opportunity for District 8 residents to share their concerns and get updates on council business affecting our community,” shared Dana Lewis, assistant to Cwmn. Brown.
