Bing Case Breathed New Life With Celebrity Lawyers Taking Over

By Lynn Jones – Former television judge known for her candid realism, Attorney Glenda A. Hatchett, has joined the case of 22-year old Vernell Bing, Jr. who was killed in Jacksonville May 22, 2016. Bing was shot in the head by a Jacksonville Sheriffs Officer.  Bing was described to be unarmed and defenseless succumbing to the bullets of seven-year veteran Deputy Tyler Landerville in Springfield. Hatchett and her team of attorneys are representing Vernell Bing Sr. the father and personal representative of the estate of his son. The federal lawsuit has been filed in the United States District Court Middle District of Florida, against Deputy Sherriff Tyler Landerville and Sherriff Mike Williams on three counts of wrongful death, municipal liability, and a violation of civil rights.

Over the weekend, the family of Vernell Bing, Jr. held a rally in Liberty Park near the site where 22 year old Bing was fatally shot. Special guest was Dr. Derek King, nephew of Martin Luther King Jr. Attorney Hatchett is also the family attorney for Philando Castile. On July 6, 2016, Castile was shot and killed by the St. Anthony Police Department Officer Jeronimo Yanez at a routine traffic stop in Falcon Heights, Minnesota. “There is no justification as to why this young man should have died,” says Glenda Hatchett, “My heart goes out to the Bing family, and we will do everything in our power to make sure that they get the justice they deserve,” she said.
