By Kelsey Marie – Travelers looking for deals this summer should consider booking with airlines offering bonus miles for flights. American Airlines is currently offering double miles to frequent fliers who book before June 30th, 2020.
AAdvantage members can earn up to 10,000 bonus miles by booking during this time. Normally members would earn 5 miles per every dollar spent on an eligible airline ticket. With American Airline’s double mile offer, AAdvantage members will earn 10 miles per every dollar spent on summer travel.
Members will also earn more depending on their membership levels. The extra miles will be posted in traveler’s accounts after the eligible flight has landed.
How can you become eligible?
AAdvantage members must register prior to booking a flight and the ticket must be for travel between now and September 30th, 2020.
Are other airlines offering summer promotions?
If you’re a frequent flier with Southwest Airlines, you can earn double Rapid Rewards points on flights before August 31st, 2020. The amount of points you earn depends on the fare type of ticket. For example, the “Wanna Get Away” ticket is the cheapest and earns six points for every dollar spent. The more expensive “Business Select” option earns 12 points for every dollar spent.
etBlue is another airline offering double points. Usually, the cheapest fares with JetBlue earn one point for every dollar spent, but with the promotion, two points will be earned. To earn double points with JetBlue, you will have to book before June 15th, 2020 for travel through mid-2021.
Despite these offers, there are still international travel restrictions in place. It is important to check the travel restrictions in the country you are interested in visiting prior to booking travel.
