Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Congratulates 2016 Scholarship Winners

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Congratulates 2016 Scholarship Winners  – Jacksonville, Florida –Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated Gamma Rho Omega Chapter awards scholarships to deserving area high school seniors and college students annually. This year’s financial support to recipients totaled $5,000.

The scholarship recipients were recognized at a luncheon on Saturday, April 23, 2016. The luncheon was held at the University club of Jacksonville on Riverplace Drive. Scholarships were awarded to Kourtney Halsey, a student at William M. Raines high school plans to attend Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University with a major in Business Management; Infini Kimbrough, also a senior at William M. Raines high school plans to attend the University of West Florida and major in Communications; and Camya Robinson, a student at Stanton College Preparatory school will attend the University of Florida and has chosen Public Health as her major field of study. Cherie Jones, the only college student recipient, is a student at Edward Waters College.

The event featured as guest speaker a former award recipient, Courtney Lynch. The audience was also graced by a dance performance by Elle Neilson and Aysia Singleton of BRMJ Dance Studio and a vocal presentation was given by Ms. Ebonique Brooks.

The awards were presented by President Mrs. Willetta Richie and the Scholarship Committee’s Chairperson Mrs. Dale Bell. Special recognition was given to committee co-chairs Mrs. Sabrina Mixson and Mrs. Vanessa Givens, who also served as the chairperson for the luncheon awards event.
