Congressman Al Lawson Jr., U.S. Representative for Florida’s 5th congressional district recently visited the Free Press’ Northside office to share some his goal’;s and accomplishments. The twice elected congressman who took over the seat long held by former Cong. Corrine Brown, has vowed to be a man of action and has won over much of her former Jacksonville stronghold with a dose of southern charm and a host of deliverables to his  constituents.
Currently, Lawsons local concerns included infrastructure to relive flooding issues in the Ribault Scenic area, grants for the ports eastern seaboard, social security and student loan debt.
Lawson’s ongoing fight continues for his district that was hit withe gerrymandering manipulation that includes most of the majority-black areas between Tallahassee and Jacksonville. An avid reader of the Black press, he says its support is a must of any administration that he is leading.
