AKA Pi Eta Omega Chapter Supports Renowned Edward Waters College Concert Choir

One of the International Programs of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. is to assist HBCU’s (Historically Black Colleges and Universities) by raising awareness and providing money to the various institutions. On Sunday afternoon, April 24, 2016, the Edward Waters College Concert Choir performed an outstanding concert at the Greater Mount Vernon Missionary Baptist Church to an audience of approximately one hundred attendees. The concert was sponsored by the Nehemiah Committee of the Church.

Members of Pi Eta Omega chapter of the Sorority attended in support of their former president, Mrs. Eliza R. Atwater, a member of the committee and the Administrative Assistant to Pastor Kelly E. Brown, Jr., the pastor of the church.  They are both graduates of Edward Waters College. Members of Gamma Rho Omega chapter were also in attendance.  The choir director, Dr. Barbara McNeely-Bouie is also a member of the sorority. This was the second year that the Church has sponsored the choir in concert to raise money for the school, the choir and the church.  The initial counting shows that more funds were raised this year than last.
