Congressman Al Lawson and the American Red Cross of North Florida recently hosted a community Town Hall meeting at the Legends Center on the Northside.  The event connected community organizers, leaders, business leaders, first responder agencies and elected officials with the services and resources of the Red Cross.  Regional Red Cross CEO Gerald Thomas gave an outline of the organizations 115 year history in Jacksonville.

Historically, the Red Cross is well known for providing disaster relief to families affected by disaster, training courses in first aid, CPR and over lifesaving classes.  They also collect 40% of all blood collected in the United States and provided over 1,503 free smoke alarms in Duval County.
