Preparing Hundreds of Teens for Summer Success

Local photographer Khalifa Dieye takes headshots at Englewood High School during one of the boot camps hosted by the Kids Hope Alliance.

This week the Kids Hope Alliance hosted five workshops across Duval County to prepare several hundred local teens for their jobs and internships through the Mayor’s Youth at Work Partnership.

Students arrived early for the all-day Workforce Readiness Boot Camp. This program was designed to prepare students for their summer employment at local organizations, including the U.S. Treasury, Leadership Jax, and various departments of the City of Jacksonville.
Resume writing, interview skills, dressing for the job, and reading social cues were some of the topics covered in a series of breakout sessions. The teens also enjoyed a Lunch and Learn Talk from author and motivational speaker Leonard Chatman, Jr. Each student also received a professional head shot taken by local professional photographer Khalifa Dieye.
